Don Stiernberg has been a full-time, professional musician for more than 20 years. Regarded as the protégé of mandolin master Jethro Burns, Don also served as jazz columnist and later editor of Mandolin World News.

He has appeared on approximately 30 CDs, including six as producer. Highlights from this list include the critically acclaimed Blue Skies, with banjo cohort Greg Cahill; Fidgety Feet, an award-winning children's swing album with Steve Rashid; Swing Low Sweet Mandolin and Bye Bye Blues, the final recordings by Don's Mentor, Jethro Burns, recently released on David Grisman's Acoustic Disc label.

Don performs as a commercial musician in Chicago and gives mandolin workshops at various festivals.
