Dix Bruce is a musician and writer from the San Francisco Bay Area. He edited Mandolin World News from 1978 until 1984.

He has written and recorded over thirty instructional books, CDs, and videos for Mel Bay Publications. His latest books are "String Band Classics Vol. 1: The Fuzzy Mountain String Band for Mandolin," "String Band Classics Vol. 1: The Fuzzy Mountain String Band for Guitar," and the guitar tour-de-force "Doc Watson & Clarence Ashley: The Folkways Recordings 1960-62."

Dix Bruce performs and records with guitarist Jim Nunally and their latest CD is entitled "The Way Things Are."

He plays mandolin, guitar, autoharp, and harmonica on his recent solo CD "My Folk Heart," which features Nunally, Tom Rozum on vocals and John Reischman on mandolin.
